Chromium (Cr)

Chromium Cr is found in chromite ore. Chromium is widely used in the refractory industry for kiln, furnace and incinerator bricks. Chromium is also used to plate alloys for wear and corrosion protection, and to increase electrical resistance in superalloys. We have excellent contacts with industrial users of pure chromium and are often able to secure very good deals.

Types

We offer three principal forms of Chromium in either lump, powder or scrap form:

  • Aluminothermic Chromium
  • Electrolytic Chromium
  • Briquettes
Applications

Chromium is widely used with nickel and cobalt alloys in the aerospace industries, medical applications, in refractory & smelting operations and for welding applications. Chemical derivatives of Chromium are used in metal finishing, tanning, glassware, as a catalyst and for the manufacture of magnetic tape.
